Norman Reedus and Helena Christensen's Son Mingus Reedus' Assault Case to Be Dismissed If He Remains Arrest-Free For 1 Year

The assault case involving Mingus Reedus, the son of Norman Reedus and Helena Christensen, could ultimately be dismissed.

According to a spokesperson for the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, Reedus accepted a Family Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal, also known as an “ACD," and a full order of protection during a scheduled court appearance on March 9.

As part of the conditions of the ACD, Reedus "must remain arrest free for one year and abide by the order of protection," per the DA's office. If he abides by the terms of the agreement, Reedus's case will then be dismissed and sealed after that 12-month period.

"I was fully prepared to dismantle the prosecution's case and show a jury exactly what happened here. We had the evidence, we had the facts, we had the proof," Reedus' attorney Priya Chaudhry told PEOPLE in a statement. "Perhaps the District Attorney recognized that because less than a week before trial, they made the offer to dismiss."

Reedus was arrested in NYC near 16th Street and 8th Avenue at approximately 8:40 a.m. local time on Aug. 23, 2025, the NYPD previously confirmed to PEOPLE.

He was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and assault, according to the NYPD. When authorities arrived at the scene, the NYPD said that officers "observed a 33-year-old female with minor injuries to [her] neck and leg."

Mingus was initially charged with one count of assault and one count of criminal obstruction of breathing in connection with the incident. Later, he was charged with three additional counts: assault — recklessly causing physical injury, aggravated harassment and harassment, according to New York Criminal Court records reviewed by PEOPLE.

"EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition," a NYPD spokesperson added at the time.

Mingus was previously arrested after he was involved in an altercation with a 24-year-old woman in New York City, NYPD's Deputy Commissioner of Public Information (DCPI) confirmed to PEOPLE in September 2021. At the time, the woman — whose identity was not shared publicly — said Mingus punched her in the face following a verbal confrontation.

In a prior statement to PEOPLE, Mingus' attorney at the time, Isabelle Kirshner, called the 2021 charges “baseless." She added that Mingus “was the victim in this incident."

Mingus ultimately accepted a plea deal in March 2022, in connection with the 2021 incident, pleading guilty to a lesser charge of disorderly conduct in connection with the incident.

Police reported at the time that the victim in the 2021 incident was injured below her left eye, and was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Norman, 57, and model Helena Christensen welcomed Mingus on Oct. 13, 1999. The former couple met through a mutual friend in 1998 and dated for five years before splitting in 2003.
